My new place is 11 miles from a fast-growing city called Sierra Vista (although the postal address is Hereford, AZ).  It's far enough from Sierra Vista to have dark skies (according to measurements by a local amateur astronomer) yet close enough to be convenient for shopping, etc.

Text Directions:

From California take US 10 (freeway) through Phoenix and Tucson.  US 10 continues southeast of Tucson about 40 miles to Hwy 90 (2 miles before Benson).  Take Hwy 90 south to Sierra Vista (about 30 miles). Just before arriving at Sierra Vista is a speed trap at Huachuca City, where on a downhill stretch the speed abruptly changes from 65 to 45 mph - beware (note: In Arizona the median speed is 4 or 5 mph above the posted value).

There are 3 ways to go through Sierra Vista to my place, located 11 miles south of the city.  1) About 2 miles before reaching Sierra Vista Hwy 90 turns to the east (left) at a signal light.  Follow it eastward, and eventually southward as it intersects Hwy 92 at a major intersection.  At this intersection Hwy 90 turns east (right), but don't follow it; instead, go straight through the intersection as you'll then be on Hwy 92.  Hwy 92 has 5-lanes through the commercial area and when it changes to just 2 lanes (one in each direction) you're just a mile from the Hereford Road turnoff.  Hereford Road intersects Hwy 92 at tiny Nicksville.  You can only go one direction on Hereford Road, east (i.e., left).

As soon as you turn onto Hereford Road, note your odometer.  Proceed 1.0 mile to Calle Mango (it only goes north, or left).  After turning onto Calle Mango go 0.5 miles to Calle Fresa.  Turn left at Calle Fresa and from now on there are no road decisions.  Calle Fresa makes two right turns (street name changes to Calle Ceresa, then Calle Manzana).  After the second right turn you shouold be going east on Calle Manzana.  My place is the second house on the right, 5320, with my name on the mailbox.
