The following links are dispatches intercepted by the National Security Agency, NSA, which is the U. S. government's most secret intelligence gathering organization.  The NSA identified this most unusal category of communications when they began to employ intelligence satellites to augment their surface surveillance.  Perhaps the most mysterious aspect of these transmissions is that they were decoded for maximum transmission efficiency, not maximum decoding difficulty.  Also unusual was their directionality.  They were all aimed at a fixed location in the galaxy!

Two theories have been invoked to explain these messages.  First, they are dispatches to a Galactic Intelligence Office, which investigates emerging new life forms throughout the galaxy.  Second, they are dispatches that originate with robots sent to Earth by an alien civilization that scours the galaxy for material for the "funnies" section of its newspapers.  This interpretation is of course controversial, since many experts don't see the humor in the material.  Judge for yourself.
